The Osprey Daylite Shoulder Sling has a beautiful, comfy layer of cushioning on the strap and back panel, which I like. The elastic strap keeper adds to the sleekness by ensuring you never have to deal with an untidy hanging strap (#danglefreeexperience). We appreciate how the buckle is tucked away since it gives the outfit a cleaner appearance. YKK, a well-known brand, makes zippers and buckles. The back panel and shoulder strap include NeoSpacerTMmesh cushioning for added comfort (more on that later). The outside is constructed of 210D Nylon Diamond Ripstop, a durable, lightweight fabric that prevents tears from happening. We wouldn’t advocate wearing it to a good restaurant because of its outdoorsy vibe (and yes, we speak from experience).Īfter all, this backpack is from Osprey, so you shouldn’t be surprised that its sling is tough and well-made. While we generally like black, we opted for the colorful “Sagebrush Blue” this time since you have to shake things up now and again (and because we’ve been testing this sling mainly in the great outdoors, where it’s less crucial to blend in). It comes in eight colors at the time of this review. It has a similar aesthetic with the same rugged zipper pulls, front logo, and sleek exterior. The Osprey Daylite Sling blends seamlessly with the rest of the Osprey Daylite Series. Again, it’s been beneficial to “sling” the bag forward for easier access, especially while shopping. While it shone on a trip to Acadia National Park, which is unsurprising given Osprey’s heritage in the outdoors, it’s also performed well elsewhere. As we continue to test, we want to visit many more locations. We’ve used the Daylite Sling to beaches, hikes, shopping districts, and grocery shops (one of which was eerily similar to a farmers’ market) and would have carried it to school if we had been students. We decided to test as many of those claims as possible in two weeks, being the rigorous gear testers we are. The Daylite Sling, according to Osprey, is suitable for a wide range of activities, including school, grocery shopping, farmers’ markets, festivals, beaches, hiking, and so on. Having anything in the sling with decent weight would get tiresome. An excellent sling for hiking, backpacking, and general outdoor activities. ![]() The shoulder strap is just nylon webbing where as the straps on the other Slings are padded. As for the North Face sling, I'd say skip it. They also have a lifetime warranty on their products. In regards to the Eagle Creek Nat Geo sling, it looks interesting and every Eagle Creek product I've had has been high quality. I'd say since they are so similar my best metaphor would be one is a green apple and the other is a red apple. I'd definitely say try them both on in person and see which fits you best. Lastly, they both have lifetime warranties so if you do have a durability issue, you're covered. Organizationally speaking they are very similar so I'd say it's a toss up there. In trying both of them on and with weight in them, comfort wise they both felt ok to me. The Daylite is a nice sling but the quality of the fabrics feels lacking in comparison to the Atom. I work at REI and have personal experience with both the Atom and Daylite Slings. The top open and upright loading is okay, but I'm liking the side entry and interior layout of the others better. It looks like maybe the strap attaches better than the Atom. This one is a little smaller than the Atom, which is fine, but the front mesh pocket is not ideal. Looks like I can go see all but the Eagle Creek in person at Mountain Sports. Looking for opinions and experience with any. Each is sized and styled for what I want. ![]()
